“It is my deepest desire to share the worlds of people we don’t often see or read about in media. With my writing I seek to introduce you to the worlds I’ve always known existed around me and within me.”
Welcome to the website of CASEY CURRY, poet and author of nonfiction and fiction for both children and teens. Casey’s first book, I Remember You Today, is an interactive grief book designed to assist a child through the first year of grief. It originated as an elegy and morphed into an illustrated soft bound book a child could carry and document their feelings in as they travel along their grief journey.Casey’s debut novel, Promises, was released in 2014.
Promises is a novel that speaks of love, loss and renewal. It is a story of discovery and redemption. It is also a story informed – in part – by Casey Curry’s life as the wife of a Navy officer raising four daughters, living in as many as 13 cities during 32 years of marriage. The success of Promises positioned Casey to be invited to speak alongside renowned author Walter Mosley; be a featured author at the prestigious 89th annual Association for the Study of African American Life’s luncheon; and the guest of book clubs, organizations nationwide.
Casey Curry hosts creative writing workshops for writers of all ages, and she is the director of creative writing at the Howard W. Blake School of the Arts in Tampa, Florida. She is married to Bruce, a retired Naval officer, and the mother of three adult daughters and the ‘ageless’ Tori Rose, who died at age 3 of a brain stem tumor.
